The Northern Ohio Recovery Association in conjunction with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, The Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, The Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board of Cuyahoga County will be hosting a Motorcycle Ride for Recovery. The riders will be starting at various points throughout the State of Ohio and finishing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In addition, a picnic for family and friends will follow. Expect.. Food, Fun, Fellowship.

On Thursday, September 7, 2006, NORA will Join the Voices of Recovery Now!!! to Build a
Stronger, Healthier Community in honor of National Recovery Month. We are excited and pleased
that Carolyn Givens, Executive Director of the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, will be in attendance
at our banquet celebration at the Crowne Plaza in Downtown Cleveland, OH to recognize Cuyahoga County Commissioner
Jimmy DiMora, and local advocates: Bobbie Powell (Cuyahoga), Bill Goins (Lorain), and Randy Zumbar (Summit), as leaders
in the field of substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery. NORA also welcomes our political and community leaders
to join in our celebration as we provide our constituents and individuals in recovery with a healthy alcohol and other drug free
activity. We are especially honored to host as our guest speaker, Senator Ray Miller, the Ohio Health Senator who has been
prominent and significant in the field of substance abuse prevention, treatment, advocacy, and appropriations. Dr. H. Westley
Clark, MD, JD, Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration, has been invited to present the honorees with their awards. The banquet will also include dinner, testimonies,
and entertainment. The Reception starts at 5:30 p.m. and Dinner will follow at 6:00 p.m.

Community Professional and College Sports Recovery Month support
Description
The Cincinnati Bengals will host the Cleveland Browns at Paul Brown Stadium September 17th at 1:00 PM and will display PSA messages on recovery and the logos of community providers on their electronic gameboard.

The U.C. Bearcats will host the Miami (OH) Red Hawks at Nippert Stadium on September 3oth and display PSA messages about recovery on their electronic gameboard. In addition, their will be a halftime recognition and pregame literature dissemination.

Helping Others Take Their Lives In A New Direction
Description
To celebrate National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month, New Direction Treatment Services will sponsor a day of recovery called Helping Others Take Their Lives In A New Direction, on September 30, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the CBI Building, 1634 Central Parkway. Registration is FREE or $10, if you want to receive CEUs or CLEs. Registration in advance or at the door.

The event will consist of workshops, displays and speakers that will help educate and empower those who provide services to and love men and women with chemical dependency problems. The day of recovery includes a special workshop for attorneys and other legal professionals and a workshop for family members and friends of chemically dependent persons, clergy and helping professionals such as social workers and marriage counselors.
