Grant Clearinghouse

The Grant Clearinghouse category provides funding links to Web sites focusing on governmental and nongovernmental sites that compile and post information on a variety of funding opportunities. These links may or may not be coastal-issue specific but will offer useful search engines. These links are organized in three groups:

Additional NOAA Funding

  • The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Grants Management site is useful in finding proper submission forms, progress reports, budget guidelines, program officer checklists, and various other resources designed to help manage grant funds.

Other Federal Agency Funding

  • The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) is a searchable government-wide listing of federal programs, projects, services, and activities that provide financial and nonfinancial assistance or benefits to the American public.
  • The Federal Register is a legal newspaper published every business day by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). It contains federal agency regulations; proposed rules and notices; and executive orders, proclamations, and other presidential documents. The Federal Register informs citizens of their rights and obligations and provides access to a wide range of federal benefits and funding opportunities.
  • Grants.gov allows organizations to electronically find and apply for competitive grant opportunities from all Federal grant-making agencies. Grants.gov is a single access point for over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making agencies.

Nonprofit Funding

  • Environmental Grantmaking Foundations, published annually by the Environmental Data Research Institute, summarizes information on private/nonprofit foundations with environmentally related grant programs. Topics include coastal and ocean issues, capacity building, conflict resolution, databases, ecosystem restoration, growth management, and more. The guide is available for a fee in booklet or CD-ROM form, which allows users to perform searches.
  • The Foundation Center is an independent, nonprofit clearinghouse that disseminates information on foundations, corporate giving, and related subjects. This Web site provides a Request for Proposals Bulletin, which is a searchable list highlighting proposal requests by topic that is updated weekly.
