Electronic Navigational Chart Data Handler for ArcView

Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) contain many data layers that are useful for ocean and coastal geographic information system (GIS) projects. Each ENC is a complex vector database containing approximately 180 possible data layers. Because of this, the NOAA Coastal Services Center has developed extensions to simplify the use of ENCs in the ESRI ® ArcView 3.x and ArcGIS ArcGIS 8.3 and 9.x environment.

ENCs are available for various geographic regions from the Office of Coast Survey.

We recognize that other organizations have created ENC data, however our extensions do not support their file structure and may not work properly. These extensions are only supported when ENC data originating from the Office of Coast Survey are used.

Please be aware that the data derived from these extensions are not intended to be used for navigational purposes. The developers of this program - the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Perot Systems Government Services, and the Environmental Systems Research Institute - assume no responsibility and can not be held liable for any end use of this software. For your own protection, please label all output with "NOT FOR NAVIGATIONAL USE."
