Agricultural Baseline Database
The agricultural baseline database provides longrun, 10-year projections from USDA's annual long-term projections report. The database covers projections for major field crops (corn, sorghum, barley, oats, wheat, rice, soybeans, and upland cotton), and livestock (beef, pork, poultry and eggs, and dairy).

Commodity and Food Elasticities
The Commodity and Food Elasticities Database is a collection of elasticities from research on consumer demand published in working papers, dissertations, and peer-reviewed journals and as presented at professional conferences in the United States. Most of the literature is from U.S. academic and government research. The database allows queriable searches of income, expenditure, and own- and cross-price elasticities for specific commodities and countries, which can be ranked and sorted. The most fully covered countries are the United States and China, and the greatest number of demand studies are for vegetables, fruits, and grocery products such as coffee and ketchup.

Commodity Costs and Returns Data
USDA has estimated annual production costs and returns and published accounts for major field crop and livestock enterprises since 1975. Cost and return estimates are reported for the U.S. and major production regions for corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, grain sorghum, rice, peanuts, oats, barley, sugarbeets, tobacco, milk, hogs, and cow-calf. These cost and return accounts are historical accounts based on the actual costs incurred by producers during each year.

Farm Balance Sheet Data
Estimates are presented for the farm business balance sheets for the U.S. for 1960 to present and individual States for 1960 through 2003. The balance sheet includes component accounts for assets, debt, and equity, where equity equals assets minus debt.
8/28/2008 10:00:00 AM

Farmland and Cropland Concentration Measures
This data product provides a size measure (the acre-weighted median for cropland and for farmland) that reflects the increasing concentration of production on large farms. The acre-weighted median, here provided at the county level, is calculated by ordering farms from smallest to largest and picking the farm size at the middle acre (the standard median focuses on the middle farm). Half of all land is on farms smaller than the acre-weighted median, and half of land is on bigger farms.

Foreign Agricultural Trade of the United States (FATUS)
The Foreign Agricultural Trade of the United States (FATUS) data page provides U.S. agricultural exports and imports, volume and value, by country and by commodity. Updated monthly or annually.

International Baseline Data
International long-term projections indicate supply, demand, and trade for major agricultural commodities for selected countries. These projections provide foreign country detail supporting USDA's annual long-term projections report.

International Macroeconomic Data Set
Provides data for real Gross Domestic Product, population, real exchange rates, and other variables for the 35 countries and 22 regions that are most important for U.S. agricultural trade.

Livestock and Meat Trade Data
The Livestock and Meat Trade Data Set contains monthly and annual data for imports and exports of live cattle, hogs, sheep, and goats, as well as beef and veal, pork, lamb and mutton, chicken meat, turkey meat, and eggs. The tables report physical quantities, not dollar values or unit prices. Data on beef and veal, pork, and lamb and mutton are on a carcass-weight-equivalent basis. Breakdowns by country are included.

Regional Agricultural Profiles System
The Regional Agricultural Profiles System is a retrieval, aggregation, and presentation tool for 2002 Census of Agriculture data. The system allows users to query selected variables from the Census and view the results in maps, charts, and tables. Broad variable categories include basic farm characteristics, agricultural land use, crop and livestock production, sales of farm products, and government payments. The system also allows two common regional aggregations: USDA Farm Production Regions and ERS Farm Resource Regions.

Season-Average Price Forecasts
A futures-price forecasting model is used to provide season-average price forecasts for corn, soybeans, and wheat. In addition to the monthly forecasts for prices received, the model computes a forecast for the counter-cyclical payment rate for each commodity. The 2002 Farm Act provides for counter-cyclical payments when prices are below specified levels.

U.S. Fertilizer Use and Price
This product brings together 1960-2006 data on fertilizer consumption in the United States by plant nutrient and major selected product, as well as consumption of mixed fertilizers, secondary nutrients, and micronutrients. Share of crop area receiving fertilizer and fertilizer use per receiving acre, by nutrient, are presented for the major producing States for corn, cotton, soybeans, and wheat. Additional data include fertilizer farm prices and indices of wholesale fertilizer price.
