C2C: From Clusters to Competitiveness—Propelling Regional Strategies for Success in the Worldwide Marketplace

Wednesday, September 10, 2008, the Economic Development Administration aired a telecast entitled “C2C: From Clusters to Competitiveness—Propelling Regional Strategies for Success in the Worldwide Marketplace.”

Description:
C2C: From Clusters to Competitiveness—Propelling Regional Strategies for Success in the Worldwide Marketplace explored how states and regions are using industry clusters to revitalize their regional economies and provide higher-skill, higher-wage jobs for their residents.

Industry clusters are geographic concentrations of competing, complementary or interdependent firms and industries that do business with each other and/or have common needs for talent, technology and infrastructure. Examples of industry clusters include North Carolina's Research Triangle; Hartford, Connecticut's insurance and finance markets; and Hollywood's film industry.

“C2C” provided viewers with an overview of regional industry clusters and their role in economic development; highlighted regional industry cluster success stories; and offered a glimpse into the future of cluster development both nationally and globally. By watching “C2C,” viewers gained valuable insight into how the regional nature of clusters can help the United States remain competitive in the global economy.
