Rural Policy

Rural policy involves Federal programs and regulations particularly important for rural economic and community development. ERS assesses Federal funding, policy decisions, and the rural impacts of Federal housing, infrastructure, and business development programs.


Spotlights

Farm Programs, Natural Amenities, and Rural Development—This Amber Waves article separates the importance of farm programs from that of natural amenities and other local characteristics in explaining population growth over the last 25 years.

Rural America—This final issue of Rural America contains several articles focusing on development policy, including Federal funding in the Delta and in Appalachia, the economic impact of rural water/sewer facilities, and the evolving Resource Conservation and Development program.
