I am pleased to announce the appointment of Lee C. Morris as Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security. For the past 18 months, Lee has served ably as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs and skillfully represented the department’s priorities with the United States Senate.

Lee's hands-on approach to working with members and staff has helped to guide senior department officials through the Senate confirmation process, and increased cooperation and communication with our committee leadership. His efforts have distinguished our department as one that is very much committed to working with members of Congress.

Before joining the department, Lee gained extensive experience as a legislative correspondent, assistant, and finally legislative director for former Oklahoma Senator Don Nickles. Lee previously served in Europe as a Specialist in the United States Army, and is a graduate of American University.

I congratulate Lee on a well deserved promotion, and look forward to his continued contributions to our work with the United States Congress.
