Making a Report
Please help our efforts to determine the current spread of Hemimysis anomala by reporting any NEW confirmed or potential sightings to ()
Step 1: Check the Current Reports website. In the header of your email, indicate whether this is a new location or an update to information for a site already included in the reports - e.g., Hemimysis, Update to Oswego or Hemimysis, New Report for Grand Haven.
Step 2: Include the following information in your message (please be as specific as possible):
- Location of the sighting -
- Name of Lake
- Nearest city, state
- GPS coordinates if available
- Site description (e.g., slip 39 at Harbor View Marina in shadow of dock)
- Date/time of sighting -
Description of the sighting -- Swarm/Individuals
- Density, color, size of swarm, other descriptors
- Attach photo if available
- Samples collected (generally not needed for updates) -
- Yes/No, approximate numbers collected
- Preserved? If so, how?
- Your Name and Contact Information
Step 3: Send your message to (). You will be sent a message confirming receipt of your report. Your information will be posted on the reports site, usually within 2-3 days, as an unconfirmed report. Your message will be forwarded to the expert covering your region who will attempt to confirm your report. This expert may contact you with additional questions about your report, instructions regarding how to send samples, etc.
