Where We Work
The work we do has an impact all over the world and is conducted throughout every country across the globe. In fact, we have over 265 embassies, consulates and missions in all continents: The Americas, Africa, Europe and Eurasia, East Asia and Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, and South Asia. If you are interested in a global career but want to work in the United States, the U.S. Department of State is where you want to begin your search.
The U.S. Department of State is headquartered in the Harry S. Truman building in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. The Department also has 26 annex buildings in the Washington, D.C. area. This is the central location of our employees’ physical work environment. Career opportunities are available in other locations throughout the United States, in any of the following offices: U.S. Passport, Office of Overseas Missions, and Diplomatic Security. This is why it’s important to register at USAJobs.gov to get email updates for job opportunities with the U.S. Department of State. Click here to get started.
