Divider

USDA requires a written permit for the importation of sugarcane and its related products, including cuttings, canes, leaves, and bagasse from all foreign sources under the authority of 7 CFR 319.15.

- For material not intended for planting, or not capable of propagation, use PPQ form 587, application for permit to import plants or plant products.

- For the prohibited Federal noxious weed Saccharum spontaneum, use PPQ Form 526, application for permit to move live plant pests or noxious weeds. (Note: these permits are issued only for experimental purposes under containment with appropriate safeguards.  A facility inspection may be required.)

- For Saccharum spp. intended for planting or capable of propagation, use PPQ form 588, application for permit to import prohibited plants or plant products for experimental purposes. (Note: This material is prohibited and permits are issued only for experimental purposes under containment with appropriate safeguards.)
