Building Passes

All visitors to GPO are required to stop at the police station at the main GPO entrance on North Capitol Street just south of H Street (not the bookstore entrance). Class participants should bring with them the identification badge issued by their agency; special GPO building access will be issued by the police each day of the class. The police should have a list of class participants; if there is a problem, ask the officer to call the Institute on 21283 ext. 1,2,3 or 0.

Directions

From Inside DC
The GPO street address is 732 North Capitol Street, NW. GPO is easily accessible from Union Station Metro Stop (on the Red Line). Exit Union Station via the First Street exit and walk a block down G Street to North Capitol. Turn right on North Capitol at the big red brick building and walk to the entrance on North Capitol closest to H Street.

From Virginia
Take I-395 North. Exit at Massachusetts Avenue.
Make a right onto Massachusetts Avenue (east).
Follow Massachusetts Avenue approximately four blocks to North Capitol Street, NW, and make a left.
GPO will be on the second block on your left.

From Maryland (East of DC)
Follow New York Avenue (west).
Make left onto North Capitol Street, NW, and go about six blocks.
GPO is on the right after H Street.

From Maryland (West of DC)
Take Capital Beltway.
Exit New Hampshire Avenue (south).
New Hampshire Avenue will turn into N. Capitol Street at the District line.
Follow N. Capitol St. until you get to H Street.
GPO is on the right after H Street.

A limited amount of parking is currently available on Lot 7 for class participants or Lot 50 for handicapped participants. No parking is available on other lots. To make parking arrangements, call or e-mail the Registrar 202.512.1283 ext. 1 or ifpep-registrar@gpo.gov. If parking is available, a parking permit will be included with the confirmation (if by letter) or by fax. If parking is not available, you will be notified.
