Young Women of NASA
Advisory Council
The Young Women of NASA Advisory Council was formed to bring the
ideas, enthusiasm, and experiences of young women from unique mentoring
efforts together - enriching Women of NASA with a more student-driven
focus. By forming alliances and collaborations among mentoring efforts
we can expand the opportunities we offer young women, further encouraging
them to pursue their dreams and goals. The young women represented were
chosen based on their diverse experiences within existing mentoring projects
and their unique attributes and contributions they will add to our outreach
efforts.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest
fear is that we are all powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not
our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be
brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not
to be? Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There is nothing enlightening
about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. It
is not just some of us, it's everyone. And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated
from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - Marianne
Williamson
Meet our Young Women of NASA Student Advisory Council Members
As these young women work to improve the quality of the Women of NASA project,
an additional component of the alliance will be to give them the opportunity
to participate in various NASA sponsored events and share their adventures
with young girls worldwide. Our council is committed to sharing their insights,
reflections, and opportunities with you - broadening the resources we offer
with a "young woman's" perspective.
Video interviews of NASA women conducted by our young women add an additional
resource on researching the background, education, and career paths of select
NASA women.
