Mission:

The Office of Waterways Management develops policy and oversees multi-program alignment in the pursuit of a safe, secure, efficient and environmentally sound waterways system. Waterways Management professionals support global maritime and intermodal transportation, and the Marine Transportation System, through visual and electronic aids to navigation, bridge administration, domestic and polar icebreaking, Great Lakes pilotage, traffic control and navigation assistance, and marine information services. CG-541 also oversees the Coast Guard Navigation Center in Alexandria, VA.
