Power Supply Upgrade

Central EPA plans to build a new substation in Fannin, Mississippi and TVA plans to build about 4 miles of transmission line to power the substation. The new transmission facilities are needed due to growth, particularly in the Langford area, which is causing equipment to approach overload conditions.

image of transmission towerThe Fannin 161-kilovolt Substation will be located on Highway 471, north of Stull Road. The transmission line to power the substation would begin at TVA’s Leake-Sebastopol 161-kV Transmission Line, southeast of the intersection of Stull Road and Stump Ridge Road, and travel west for 2.26 miles. The route then turns north for 0.76 of a mile, crossing Stull Road and Highway 25 before turning west for 0.75 of a mile. The route then turns north for 0.23 of a mile to the new substation. See map.

The transmission line would consist of steel pole structures centered on a new 100-foot right-of-way.

The new facilities are expected to be in service June 2011.

By continuing to provide affordable, reliable power, TVA and the distributors of TVA power will help ensure continued economic health and growth in the area.
