Power Supply Upgrade
TVA plans to build about two miles of new transmission line to provide power to an El Paso Gas underground pumped storage facility.
The route would extend from the existing Lowndes-Kerr McGee (Tronox) transmission line near the end of Sanders Lane. It would follow along the hills just outside the bottomlands of the Buttahatchee River, and cross Caledonia Road to enter the El Paso Gas Black Warrior project area and connect to the El Paso Gas substation. Transmission line switches would also be installed at the tap point. See map.
The transmission line would consist of H-frame steel pole structures centered on a new 100-foot right-of-way.
The new facilities are expected to be in service December 2009.
By continuing to provide affordable, reliable power, TVA and the distributors of TVA power will help ensure continued economic health and growth in the area.

Environmental reviews
The appropriate National Environmental Policy Act reviews will be conducted to ensure that the environmental impacts are minimized. TVA attempts to minimize any land requirements, private property impacts, and environmental impacts associated with this project.
