The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing a public hearing on the use of advisory labeling of allergens in foods. FDA is developing a long-term strategy to assist manufacturers in using allergen advisory labeling that is truthful and not misleading, conveys a clear and uniform message, and adequately informs food-allergic consumers and their caregivers.

Please note the following important dates:

• August 26 , 2008: Closing date for requests to make an oral presentation
• September 8, 2008: Closing date for:
  • Advance registration (register online)
  • Requesting special accommodations due to a disability, and
  • Providing a brief description of an oral presentation and any written material for the presentation
• September 10 , 2008: Closing date to request onsite parking
