State and Local Employment Resources for District of Columbia

The DC Aging & Disability Resource center (ADRC) offers information and services related to long term care for older adults (60 and older) and persons with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Provides skills training in personal care, coping, social skills, household management, education, community living and participating in community activities.

Provides innovative, high quality services that enable people with disabilities to lead meaningful and productive lives as vital members of their families, schools, workplaces and communities in every neighborhood in the District of Columbia.

Provides direct services and life planning strategies to individuals with mental retardation or other developmental disabilities.

Each center provides career counseling, career planning, resume assistance, direct job placement, classroom and on-the-job training, information about local and national labor markets and unemployment compensation.

Provides a variety of services and resources including assistive technology and independent living programs.

SBDCs offer one-stop assistance to individuals and small businesses by providing a wide variety of information and guidance in central and easily accessible branch locations. SBDC services include, but are not limited to, assisting small businesses with financial, marketing, production, organization, engineering and technical problems.
