1997 Public Comment on Developing Objectives for Healthy People 2010

The public comment period for the first phase of Healthy People 2010 was September 15-December 15, 1997. Public comments on Developing Objectives for Healthy People 2010 are available to be read online in three predefined reports: text comments by organizational affiliation, section, or user. You may also select a date range for a report.

Comments submitted only in paper copies or by e-mail have been incorporated into the database of comments; in the reports, scanned or e-mail comments are indicated by a comment date of 1997-12-16 00:00:00.

Notes:

• Some submissions that could not be scanned are included only in the official record copy at ODPHP.
• Some comments may have been submitted under one section of the proposed framework but be equally applicable to others; this was considered in the analysis of the comments, and such comments may appear  in more than one section.
• Some users accessed the comment site at widely separated intervals and created two User IDs or submitted duplicate comments. This produced duplicate entries in the User List, which requires running two reports to view all the related comments, or duplicate entries in the Comments section. To the extent that registration information for two User IDs and/or the content of two entries was identical, the entries were combined after analysis.

• All comments submitted, including any personal identifying information provided, became part of the public record and are available at the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and on this web site. All comments were aggregated and distributed to the appropriate focus area lead agency or agencies.
