Regional
Restoration Efforts
Taking
an Ecosystem Approach
Regionally-targeted restoration programs allow the
focusing of resources on specific habitat challenges
facing the Nation's coasts. The Restoration Center sponsors
several Congressionally-directed initiatives. For most
of these partnerships, the recipient announces funding
opportunities to local entities through these awards.
The first of these tackles habitat restoration in the
lower Bronx River, New York, a heavily urbanized waterway
feeding into the East River.
