Governor Rell: CDC Confirms Ten More Cases of Novel H1N1 Flu in Connecticut
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed ten new cases of novel H1N1 flu (swine flu) among Connecticut residents.

H1N1 Update: New Probable Novel H1N1 Case
  The Department of Public Health (DPH) has identified a new probable case of novel H1N1 flu (swine flu). The specimen received indicates that the person has non-subtypeable Influenza A, which means that the virus is not regular seasonal influenza. The specimen is being forwarded to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to determine if the virus is novel H1N1 flu.

Governor Rell: CDC Confirms Two More Cases of Novel H1N1 Flu in Connecticut
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed that the first two probable cases from two Fairfield University students have tested positive for novel H1N1, or swine, flu.

Governor Rell: CDC Confirms Second H1N1 Flu Case in Connecticut
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed that a child from Middlefield has tested positive for the H1N1 flu, or swine flu, virus. In addition, the Department of Public Health (DPH) Laboratory has identified six additional “probable” cases of H1N1 flu in Connecticut.

Governor Rell: CDC Says One of First Two ‘Probable’ Cases Positive for H1N1 Influenza
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that one of two samples sent from Connecticut to the federal Centers for Disease Control for further testing is positive for H1N1 influenza or “swine flu.” Results from the second sample were inconclusive and additional testing by CDC is planned.

Governor Rell: Two Fairfield University Students Probable for Swine Flu, Samples Sent to CDC for Confirmation
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the state Department of Health has identified two students at Fairfield University as probable for swine flu. Governor Rell advised mayors and school superintendents of the test results in a conference call this morning. The Governor also announced during the conference call that two cases in East Haddam came back negative for swine flu.

The specimen received indicates that the resident has non-subtypeable Influenza A, which means that the virus is not regular seasonal influenza. The specimen is being forwarded to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to determine if the virus is swine flu.

Governor Rell Directs Antiviral Drugs Distributed to State Hospitals as Swine Flu Precaution
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that she has directed the state Department of Public Health to distribute nearly 10,000 treatment courses of antiviral medication to the state’s acute care hospitals, a precautionary move against the spread of swine flu.

Governor Rell: Swine Flu Conference Calls Scheduled for School, Municipal Officials & First Responders
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that she has invited Connecticut school superintendents and municipal leaders to join her on a Thursday morning conference call to educate them about swine flu and update them on the steps the state has taken to deal with the illness. A similar call is scheduled for Thursday afternoon for fire and police chiefs from around the state.

  The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) and the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) announce that the Precautionary Boil Water Notice has been removed for MDC customers in the towns of Bloomfield, Windsor, Hartford, West Hartford, and parts of East Granby and Windsor Locks.

Governor Rell Formally Requests and Formally Accepts Release of Antiviral Medications by Centers for Disease Control to Connecticut
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that she has formally requested that the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) release to Connecticut 134,000 treatment courses of antiviral medications, as well as personal protective equipment and respiratory protection devices, in response to the swine flu outbreak. The CDC makes the supplies available, but individual states must indicate their formal acceptance of the treatment courses, which the Governor did today.

  The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) will join the rest of the nation in observing National Healthy Schools Week from April 27 through May 2, 2009. The DPH encourages schools to implement and maintain the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Tools for Schools program as a main strategy for addressing school indoor environment quality (IEQ) issues.

BOIL WATER NOTICE CONTINUES THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND IN THE TOWNS OF BLOOMFIELD, WINDSOR, HARTFORD, WEST HARTFORD AND PARTS OF EAST GRANBY AND WINDSOR LOCKS
  The Metropolitan District (MDC) announces that the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) is requesting that MDC customers in the towns of Bloomfield, Windsor, Hartford, West Hartford, and parts of East Granby and Windsor Locks, continue to boil their drinking water for one minute as a precautionary measure through the weekend while rigorous testing continues throughout the system.

Boil Water Advisory Lifted for East Hartford, Glastonbury, Portland, South Windsor, Manchester
  The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) and the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) announce that MDC customers in the towns of East Hartford, Glastonbury, Portland, and South Windsor NO LONGER NEED TO BOIL WATER for consumption. The distribution systems in these towns were isolated yesterday from the Reservoir No. 6 service area. After several rounds of sampling, no organisms were found and DPH has determined the water may be consumed directly from the tap without boiling.

  The State of Connecticut Public Health Department is requesting that Metropolitan District (MDC) consumers in the towns of Bloomfield, Glastonbury, Portland, Windsor, Hartford, East Hartford, West Hartford, South Windsor and parts of East Granby and Windsor Locks, boil their drinking water for one minute until further notice. This notification is a precautionary measure.
