The Department of Justice published a Notice of Proposed Rule Making on June 17, 2008 for Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability in State and Local Government Services. The purpose of this rule is to adopt enforceable accessibility standards under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 that are "consistent with the minimum guidelines and requirements issued by the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board (Access Board)."
