ACPM STEPS INTO SPOTLIGHT AT
NATIONAL PARTY CONVENTIONS
ACPM President Michael Parkinson
was a featured speaker at events held during the Democratic and
Republican Party conventions, where he touted the value of
prevention in health care reform and promoted the specialty of
preventive medicine to more than a 1,000 party delegates.
Dr. Parkinson was joined by
Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Howard Dean as he
addressed the Ohio delegation at a breakfast in Denver. He
introduced ACPM to the audience and articulated the need to align
individual incentives with appropriate health promotion behaviors
to help combat the rising cost of chronic disease. Dr. Parkinson
made similar remarks at a breakfast for the Colorado delegation
before heading off to promote ACPM and its message at the
Republican Party convention.
