PIONEER
The Coast and Geodetic Survey Ship PIONEER.
This was the first PIONEER.

Diesel, length 207.6 feet, beam 30 feet, draft 13.2 feet. Built by Germania Wer, Fort Kiel, Germany, 1929. Acquired from Navy in 1941, refurbished and commissioned on September 17, 1941. Returned to Navy on March 16, 1942, after accomplishing little survey work for the Coast and Geodetic Survey.
