Coast and Geodetic Survey Launch COSMOS.

Steam launch, length 52.5, beam 12 feet, draft 8 feet. Built at the Mare Island Navy Yard in 1887 at a cost of $8073.61. Built for the Coast and Geodetic Survey. Sold in 1927 for $565. In service 1887-1927 Pacific service only. Possibly named for the Cosmos, but probably named for the Cosmos Club of Washington, D.C.
