If your patient and/or your patient’s family member providing care to your patient are eligible for State Disability Insurance (SDI) they are covered by Disability Insurance and Paid Family Leave programs.
We depend on the accuracy of your medical certifications regarding your patients’ disabilities. The quality and accuracy of your medical certifications directly affect service we provide your patients or your patient’s family members that provide care to your patient.
We pay special attention to diagnoses, ICD codes, and estimated recovery dates. We also consider the claimant’s age, gender, medical history, and occupation. When an estimated recovery date is materially more than the normal expectancy, we may contact you and / or your patient for additional information, or send the patient to an Independent Medical Examiner to verify the disability status of the patient.
If your patient has developed an industrial related illness or sustained an injured at work, please have the patient contact their employer regarding Workers’ Compensation benefits.
