Brief Description: The LEPC #9 is in the initial stages of scheduling CERT training in the community. CERT training is scheduled to begin in November 2004. We plan on educating the public as to the role of the CERT and the importance it can have in the community. LEPC #9 plans to utilize the CERT for more than just large-scale disaster responses, such as assisting with community prepareness during times of inactivity.

Brief Description: We follow the National Guidelines for CERT. Any individual less than 18 years of age but accompanied by a parent or guardian may take the course and further trainings. They may also participate with discretion in many activations. Team members need to reside or work within the 18 towns or one gore we cover. We work with all other LEPC districts to ensure the training and equipment are equal across the board. Those from outside our district may participate in training with us with sponsorship from their LEPC. WE have worked traffic control for Parades, Funerals, and Flu Clinics; as data entry and call takers in the local EOC for flooding; as runners and scribes, intake and documentation for LEPC drills, as eyes and ears for the local Police Department during concerts and fairs (mass gatherings); searching for lost or missing children during the local fair, as "actors" during full scale exercise. We have been established since January of '04.

Brief Description: The Franklin County Citizen's Corps Council with assistance from the American Red Cross, Northern Vermont Chapter, will provide interested private citizens with the basic skills they will need to respond to their community?s needs in the aftermath of a major disaster. Training will include disaster preparedness, medical operations, fire suppression, disaster psychology, shelter management, damage assessment and an overview of the Incident Command System. CERT volunteers will act in support of emergency response activities.

Brief Description: A community based general prepardness and assistance program comprising courses in First Aid, Communications, Global positioning, Search and Rescue, Fire prvention, Traffic control, Disaster psychology, and many other awareness topics. Goal is to have 40 members trained and equiped to serve our community in time of need.

Brief Description: The TRORC CERT will begin training its first volunteers in the fall of 2003. Brief Description: LEPC 13, Grand Isle County was adopted in the Spring of 2003. Grand Isle County has been meeting as a mutual aid association since 1997 and formally became it's own LEPC in May. We are currently working with the Red Cross to adopt a CERT training program within Grand Isle County. We will also be offering the Basic Preparedness presentations to interested residents. We meet monthly on the first Monday of the month and move the location of our meetings among each members station.
