Brief Description: The District of Columbia's Commission on National and Community Service, Executive Office of the Mayor is offering a special training to its residents to advance emergency preparedness and increase citizen involvement in community response. The CERT program utlizes the expertise of DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Metropolitan Police Department, and Metro Transit Police in training groups of citizens to be prepared and ready to respond to any natural or man-made disaster in their community. CERT memebrs will be trained and certified in disaster preparedness, fire suppression, emergency medical operations, search and rescue techniques, and response to terror attacks. The CERT program is a part of the District of Columbia Citizen Corps effort to empower citizens in preparedness and response. DC Citizen Corps is housed in Serve DC - The Executive Office of the Mayor.
