Engineers give Mayor Chávez Green Champion Award
On behalf of his hometown, Mayor Chávez proudly accepted the 2007 Green Champion Award from the New Mexico Association of Energy Engineers on Sept. 19.
The Mayor and the City of Albuquerque were commended for their green initiatives created with the help of many community members and leaders over many years of hard work. Those initiatives include the work accomplished on the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, the 2030 Challenge, the Zero Waste Initiative, and the innovative Albuquerque Green program.
"I am very honored to receive this award as the city of Albuquerque continues to implement innovative energy management policies that will protect and enhance the lives of New Mexicans for generations to come," Chávez said in a prepared statement.
