Overview:
Practice developing speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. Designed for participants with a working knowledge of basic Spanish, this course reviews regular versus stem-changing verbs, the preterite versus the imperfect and subject and object pronouns, and introduces the perfect tense and future and conditional verb formations. ACE College Credit Recommendation Service reviewed.
Prerequisites:
Introductory Spanish IV (SPAN1154E), Conversational Spanish IV (SPAN1114E).

To provide the student with a review of Spanish grammar and introduction to Hispanic civilization, culture, literature, and art, to extend reading, writing, and conversational skills.

Learning Outcome
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to demonstrate appreciation for Hispanic literature and art; and make oral and written presentations about aspects of Hispanic culture.

Instruction
Major topics covered in the course are European and American origins of contemporary Hispanic culture, the role of religion in Hispanic culture, review of selected aspects of Spanish grammar, and readings dealing with themes from both Spain and Latin America.

Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, oral and written reports, and examinations.
