1 A child was considered to have a developmental disability if a ‘‘yes’’ response was received to a question
about the presence of mental retardation or to a question about the presence of some other developmental disability
such as autism or cerebral palsy. A child was considered to have a developmental condition if a ‘‘yes’’ response was
received to a question about the presence of a developmental condition for which the child had received therapy or
diagnostic services.

Note: The numbers in this table only include children who had a mother, father, or guardian. There were 63,000
children (16 unweighted) under the age of 15 who did not have a mother, father, or guardian and were not included
in this table.
