On Friday, October 14, 2005 USA Freedom Corps brought together non-profit and national service leaders for a White House briefing on hurricane recovery and reconstruction. Desiree Sayle, Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of USA Freedom Corps, was joined by Secretary Andy Card of the White House, Secretary Michael Chertoff of the Department of Homeland Security, Secretary Alphonso Jackson of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and David Eisner, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service for a productive time of sharing information and discussing ways these organizations can empower volunteers and the Armies of Compassion in the vital work ahead.
