Sonoma Developmental Center

Sonoma Developmental Center

Sonoma Developmental Center (SDC) is a residential facility serving individuals with developmental disabilities. The facility is governed by the California Department of Developmental Services.

SDC is committed to providing quality care and support for individuals who require specialized services. SDC's operating philosophy is based on valuing the quality of people's lives and on our belief that continuous improvement is possible. To improve the quality of people's lives, SDC promotes all aspects of growth and development, with emphasis on citizenship, advocacy, rights, decision making, and independence. In addition, the Center promotes an environment where services and treatment are provided with dignity and respect.

SDC continuously improves its services by utilizing the current knowledge, expertise, and technology available in all relevant fields. This is accomplished by using an interdisciplinary approach with licensed psychiatric technicians; psychiatric technician assistants (CNA); registered and vocational nurses; psychologists; physical, occupational, music, and recreation therapists; teachers; and social workers all working with the individual and their family to design and implement comprehensive services. This approach is essential to the delivery of effective services.

SDC is licensed by the State of California to provide three levels of care: Acute, Nursing (NF), and Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). Staffing ratios vary depending on an area's level of care and acuity (the assessed needs of individuals). The facility is certified by the federal government to receive reimbursement for most of the services provided.

Mission Statement:

SDC provides person-centered planning, services, and supports to people with developmental disabilities, so that they have the opportunity to achieve their potential.
