February 8, 1999: The myth that the government is awash with poor performers doesnt hold water, according to a new Office of Personnel Management report. The report, issued today by OPM, indicates that an estimated 3.7 percent of the federal work force -- a relatively small proportion of the 1.8 million federal employees worldwide -- can be termed poor performers. February 2, 1999: Despite the continued downsizing of the federal government, the representation of minorities and women in higher level positions is improving, according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Managements Annual Report to Congress: Federal Equal Opportunity Recruitment Program. February 1, 1999: President Clintons proposed FY 2000 budget for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management totals $14.5 billion, an increase of $0.9 billion over FY 1999. This request includes the first significant salaries and expenses budget increase, $11 million, for OPM in six years, 5.9 percent over FY 99. [News Release]
