Welcome to the SAMHSA eNetwork!         This is your first message from SAMHSA's eNetwork.  You will now receive regular messages from us.  As an eNetwork subscriber, you will benefit from the latest SAMHSA information on substance abuse and mental health services.

SAMHSA supports state and local efforts to build resilience and facilitate recovery to provide people with or at risk for mental or substance use disorders the opportunity for a fulfilling life in the community.  With an FY2007 budget of $3.3 billion, SAMHSA carries out its mission through its three Centers and supporting Offices.  We

  • Fund a diverse portfolio of grant programs and contracts supporting states and communities.
  • Provide technical assistance and targeted information dissemination to improve services delivered.
  • Collect, analyze, and disseminate national data on behavioral health practices and issues.

SAMHSA At-A-Glance

SAMHSA is made up of four primary components:

Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) – works to apply research findings and new knowledge to the prevention and treatment of mental disorders.

Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) – works with states and communities to develop comprehensive prevention systems that create healthy communities in which people enjoy a quality life.

Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) – brings effective alcohol and drug treatment to communities.

Office of Applied Studies (OAS) – collects, analyzes, and disseminates national data on behavioral health practices and issues.
