New training materials on Asphalt Pavement Mechanistic Design are currently under development. A course on "Superpave Fundamentals" incorporating the latest modifications to the Superpave system was introduced in 2000 through the FHWA's National Highway Institute (NHI). The course was taught by subject-matter experts from one of the Superpave Regional Centers. Course content focuses on implementation strategies for transportation agencies and describes how to incorporate this evolving technology into paving programs. The course provided participants with the skills to discuss the basic functions of testing procedures and equipment operation; interpret the data obtained from testing procedures; and apply test results to select materials for high-quality mix design and performance. The National Highway Institute website is a good source for all types of training courses offered by FHWA. Also available is the HMA for Undergraduate Course. Concrete
