Master Chief Boatswain’s Mate Dale M. Potvin, is a native of Spokane, WA.  Enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard in January 1976, Master Chief Potvin attended Basic Training at TRACEN Alameda, CA.  His first assignment was USCGC BITT, homeported in Bellingham, WA.  Master Chief Potvin’s other afloat tours include Executive Petty Officer/DWO aboard USCGC POINT GLASS and  Deck CPO/DWO aboard USCGC POLAR STAR.  His tours ashore include Station Bellingham, WA, Support Center Kodiak, AK., Station Fort Lauderdale, FL., District Thirteen (ole), a second tour at Station Bellingham, WA as Officer In Charge, TRACEN Yorktown, Coast Guard Headquarters and as Officer In Charge, Station Key West, FL.

MCPO Potvin served as the Fourteenth District Command Master Chief from 2006 to 2008.  In June 2008, MCPO Potvin assumed the duties of Command Master Chief for the Ninth Coast Guard District.

Master Chief Potvin’s personal awards include one Meritorious Service Medal with “O” device, two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals with “O” device, Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbon, two National Defense Service Medals, Antarctic Service Medal, two CG Arctic Service Medals, Humanitarian Service Medal, nine CG Good Conduct Medals, CG Expert Rifle Medal and CG Expert Pistol Medal.

MCPO Potvin is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Command Master Chief Course and CPO Academy Class XXXVII.
