banner - hall of honor

The NOAA Hall of Honor is meant to recognize and remember those who have given of themselves for the Nation, the scientific community, and NOAA and its predecessor agencies.

There are five broad areas that are being specifically commemorated and recognized within this site: 1) those who have given their lives in the service of our Nation; 2) those who have protected life and property; 3) those who have been called to serve in the Armed Forces during time of national emergency; 4) those whose scientific contributions have merited the recognition of the national and international science communities; and 5) those whose science, engineering, and administrative contributions to NOAA programs have merited the award of Gold and Silver Medals, the highest civil awards bestowed by the United States Department of Commerce.
