3. Project Description (100 words or less. Please include qualitative information, e.g. acres of habitat restored, miles of steam reopened to migration, and legislative authorization, e.g. WRDA, ISTEA, CWA/NEP, CZMA, etc.)

Queen Bess Island is one of two nesting sites in Louisiana for the endangered brown pelican. Erosion from wave action and storms, subsidence, and other natural processes have gradually reduced the islands's size subsequently reducing the area available for brown pelican nesting habitat. Various constructions have taken place to prevent further depletion of the shoreline.

4. Goals/Benefits (quantify where possible using measures of success list) Was a cost-benefit study conducted for this project? yes/no If yes, provide a summary of findings.

The constructs will provide more nesting grounds for the brown pelican and additional dredge spoil which will be available during the next dredge cycle of the Barataria Waterway.
