You can find ENERGY STAR qualified clothes washers by using the search below. Please be aware that selecting a brand will give you only qualified models, while typing a model number or part of a model number will show whether or not a specific model is qualified. Please be aware of the following:
- On January 1, 2007 the ENERGY STAR criteria for clothes washers changed. To qualify for ENERGY STAR, a clothes washer must have a minimum Modified Energy Factor (MEF) of 1.72 and also a maximum Water Factor of 8.0. Before January 1, 2007, the minimum MEF was 1.42 and there was no Water Factor requirement. MEF is an equation for Energy Factor that takes into account the amount of dryer energy used to remove the remaining moisture content in washed items. Water Factor is the water use of the washer measured in gallons per cycle per cubic foot. Learn about the ENERGY STAR criteria for Clothes Washers.
- Products manufactured before January 1, 2007 that qualified for the previous criteria, and do not qualify under the current criteria, may still be labeled with the ENERGY STAR logo and retailers may continue to promote these products as qualified until March 31, 2007.
