North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District 622

North St. Paul, Minnesota
10% Improvement (2006)

North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District 622 educates about 11,000 K-12 students in 16 schools in the northwestern suburbs of Minnesota's Twin Cities.  The district has made a commitment to efficiency by partnering with Schools for Energy EfficiencyTM (SEE).  With SEE's help, the school district has saved more than $697,000 since 2005, thanks to a comprehensive plan focusing on changing energy use behaviors. North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Schools has assessed the performance of all of its facilities and made improvements such as replacing old boilers, steam traps, and windows.

Since joining the ENERGY STAR program in 2005, six of the school district's buildings have earned the ENERGY STAR label, and the district has achieved a 12 percent portfolio-wide improvement. The benefit of this commitment has been the community recognition for the team-focused efforts of operations staff, administrators, teachers, and students, who have all made simple changes to their day-to-day habits in an effort to positively impact the environment and save tax-payer money.
