The project will restore degraded saltwater shoreline habitat by removing fill material, re-contouring shoreline and planting appropriate plant species. During establishment of vegetation, erect protective structures, monitor development and replant as necessary. Erect interpretative facilities to explain the project and increase awareness of the value of shoreline ecosystems.
Prevention of habitat degradation and loss and nonpoint source pollution. Project will protect the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay from further deterioration by stabilizing the shoreline, thus reducing/eliminating erosion and protecting marine habitat from sedimentation damage.
