Crime Statistics
These reports are generated from crime data provided by the Albuquerque Police Department. The crime statistics on this site are case-based and do not necessarily correspond to Uniform Crime Report (UCR) statistics. UCR statistics are published by the FBI for governmental jurisdictions all over the country. UCR uses a specific method of counting crimes, wherein, only the "highest" crime is counted when numerous crimes are reported on the same police report. Some reports allow you to select from Part I or Part II crimes, or both. Part I refers to the FBI's Uniform Crime reporting of 8 specific crimes; murder and non-negligent manslaughter, robbery, aggravated assault, rape, motor vehicle theft, larceny, burglary, and arson. Part II crimes are everything other than Part I. As of March 2002, the crime data provided on this website is different than it has been in the past. The new and "improved" data contains all charges on reports, whereas the "old" data did not count duplicate charges on the same report (e.g. three traffic offenses on the same police report)
Also, the "improved" data is georeferenced to a higher standard, wherein imperfect records (e.g. typos) are rejected at a higher rate. This will only affect the neighborhood and city council data, because the data summarized per beat does not rely on this georeferencing program. What this means is that the "improved" data is extremely accurate for beats, area commands, and the city.

These reports use the Cognos software tools that allow you to view data in a variety of ways.
