What is an ENERGY STAR Advanced Lighting Package (ALP)?

An ENERGY STAR ALP designation identifies homes equipped with a comprehensive set of ENERGY STAR qualified light fixtures. The ALP can be promoted to manufacturers, builders, lighting showrooms, and distributors to spur long-term change in the preference for energy-efficient lighting.

The ALP designation applies to lighting packages, for new home construction, that consist of a minimum of 60% ENERGY STAR qualified hard-wired fixtures and 100% ENERGY STAR qualified ceiling fans where installed.

Note: This ALP definition became effective September 1, 2007. There will be a transition period, during which time the ALP may still be defined by the old definition which references specific room requirements. However, as of September 1, 2008 only those homes that meet the definition and requirements provided in the ALP Eligibility Criteria (revised August 9, 2007) will be considered ALP-equipped.
