Evaluation and Realistic Expectations

If you have been viewing these modules in order, you can see the road being travelled in this course. We looked at Web trends, Web users, target audiences, goals and objectives, content and usability/accessibility, and marketing. Combined with the actual building of actual Web pages and linking them together, this constitutes the general Web design process.

After the site is built, and people are visiting the site, the evaluation process begins.

Module Objectives:

After completing this module, you will be able to:

  • Describe the ADDIE Model for developing educational materials and activities.
  • Explain the differences between “formative evaluation” and “summative evaluation.”
  • Define each of Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Evaluation and explain how they can be applied to designing a Web site.
  • Discuss what a Web site can realistically accomplish.
  • Examine the everyday operations of your organization to determine practical objectives for your Web site.
