FAQs Business Records Processing Recharge Service

If a customer would prefer to have the Archives and Records Office (ARO) do all of the processing of their business/operational records, there is a Business Records Processing Recharge Service. With a project ID, this service provides analysis, scheduling, boxing, transportation, sorting, and indexing of laboratory records. The following outlines the steps of the Recharge Service:

  1. An Archivist and Records Specialist will meet with the client to discuss their records needs.

  2. The Archivist and Records Specialist will outline to the client NARA's records transfer standards.

  3. Upon physically examining the records, the Archivist and Records Specialist will advise the client what processing needs to be done to meet NARA's records standards.

  4. After the office visit, the Archivist and Records Specialist will e-mail the client an estimate detailing the work to be done and outlining labor, materials, and transportation costs.

  5. The client will be requested to respond indicating their understanding and approval of the project by providing a project number to be recharged.

  6. The Archivist and Records Specialist will do the agreed upon work and will notify the customer when the project is complete. The customer's project number then will be recharged.

To request an appointment to discuss your records needs, please contact the Archives and Records Office.

Please note: For research and development records, ARO provides scientists a free archiving service which includes consultation, boxing, transporting, processing, and indexing.
