On the other side of the precipitation spectrum, the table above shows the driest Septembers in Cheyenne weather history.  As you can see, there were three Septembers in which no precipitation was recorded, in 1890, 1879 and 1876.

 The table above shows the top ten warmest September high temperatures and the dates they occurred, since 1872 in Cheyenne.  The warmest September high temperature in Cheyenne was 95 degrees on September 1, 1995.   As a matter of interest, notice that all of these records occurred on or before the 6th, with the unusual exception of the 91 degree high temperature on September 17, 2000.

 The coldest low temperature ever recorded in Cheyenne in the month of September was 8 degrees on September 30, 1985, as you can see in the table above.  The table above shows the top ten coldest September low temperatures in Cheyenne since 1872, and the dates the low temperatures occurred.  Notice these records all occurred on or after the 19th of the month when the cooling descent towards autumn takes hold.

 The table above shows the top ten coldest September high temperatures in Cheyenne since 1872.  As you can see, the coldest high temperature ever in September was 29 degrees that occurred on September 29, 1985 and September 24, 1926.  Yes, it can remain below freezing all day in September, although this is atypical for September.  Interestingly, notice that all these records occurred on or after the 17th of the month as the daily daylight diminishes as we approach and pass the autumnal equinox around September 21st.

 If you like balmy nights in September, the table above shows the top ten balmiest September nights in Cheyenne since 1872.  The warmest low temperature ever in Cheyenne during the month of September was 64 degrees on September 2, 1960.  Interestingly, notice how all these top ten records occurred on or before the 9th of the month, and before the typical cool descent towards the autumnal equinox in late September, and the diminishing daylight hours each day.
