April 30 is El día de los niños/ El día de los libros

El día de los niños/El día de los libros: a celebration of children, families, and reading is held annually on April 30. The celebration emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for every child regardless of linguistic and cultural background.

One book will be given away to each child participating in Dia de los Ninos celebrations (while quantities last).

Performers

Stephen Plá will tell multicultural stories in both Spanish and English.  Stephen has been an educator and is now a full-time storyteller.

Cristina Ortega will read from one of her children's books and bring some heirlooms for show and tell that have been passed down through the generations of her New Mexican relatives.  Christina is a retired teacher.

Danny Solis will do an interactive poetry program in both Spanish and English.  Danny is a national poetry slam champion.
