What is the Ticket to Work Program?
Ticket to Work is a new Social Security program. The goal of the program is to assist people receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits based on disability obtain employment and earn enough money to end the need for cash benefits. The program is voluntary.
Who gets a Ticket?
Individuals who are 18 to 64 years old and receiving SSDI or SSI cash benefits based on disability are eligible to receive a Ticket. Some restrictions apply. If you have not received a Ticket in the mail but feel you are eligible, you can contact MAXIMUS (the program manager) at 866.968.7842 to find out if you are eligible. This is a toll free phone number.
What services are available through the Ticket to Work Program?
You can use your Ticket to obtain training and employment services from an Employment Network. Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is an approved Employment Network.
VR offers a wide range of services, and is located in the more than 50 WorkForce Centers across the state. You will be provided full information on how work will affect your current benefits, and how you can maintain medical benefits while you work. Our expert staff, including over 170 rehabilitation counselors with Master's degrees, will work with you to do a complete analysis of your needs, and to develop an individualized Employment Plan that supports your goals for work.
