  Media Briefing on International Accounting Standards Concept

What:             Securities and Exchange Commission Chief
                  Accountant Lynn E. Turner will conduct a media
                  briefing to discuss the concept release on
                  international accounting standards that will
                  be considered at an open meeting on Wednesday,
                  February 16, 2000.
                  
                  At the open meeting, the Commission will
                  consider whether to issue a release requesting
                  comment regarding when or under what
                  conditions the Commission should accept
                  financial statements of foreign private
                  issuers that are prepared using standards
                  promulgated by the International Accounting
                  Standards Committee.
