Council Description
The Region 3 Homeland Security Planning Board has established a regional Citizen Corps Council for the development and implementation personal preparedness initiatives, Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) and Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) as needed in Arenac, Alcona, Bay, Genesee, Gladwin, Huron, Lapeer, Midland, Iosco, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Sanilac, Saginaw and Tuscola counties. Communication, information sharing, and best practices will be utilized to support existing programs in Region 3 counties where they are already operational. The Council looks to strengthen preparation for overall disaster initiatives in the region by utilizing local media to promote personal preparedness. The Council will work closely with local governments and organizations to properly train volunteers for supplemental personnel needs in case of local disasters and emergencies.
